Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou Romeo?  

Safe in a foster home, thank goodness!  Romeo was found in May 2014, hiding under a vehicle with more than 2 feet of chain dragging behind him. Romeo had no identification on him and he was not microchipped.  He was placed into a foster home for the appropriate waiting period and when we determined that no one was looking for him, we took him into our program. Almost immediately Romeo began displaying odd behavior -- pressing his head into walls, walking in a drunken stupor, seeming to "zone out."

We took him immediately to a vet and after extensive testing, it was determined that Romeo suffers from a liver shunt.  Liver shunts are a tricky thing. Some are operable and some are not. We are currently working with numerous vets to identify the nature of Romeo's shunt and are sincerely hoping that it is operable so we can fix this sweet little guy up so he can have a long life in a forever home.  In the mean time, Romeo's condition is being medically managed by his foster family and he is doing well.  However, Romeo's prognosis for a long, quality life is minimal unless we can fix the shunt surgically.
